Day 1

Plaza de España
STOP 1
Landmark

Plaza de España

One of the most spectacular squares in Europe — a vast semicircle of red brick, marble bridges and dazzling colorful tilework. Built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, it's been used as a backdrop in everything from Lawrence of Arabia to Star Wars.

💡 Insider tip: Visit in the early evening when the light turns golden and the crowds thin out. Rent a small rowboat on the canal for the most magical experience — it costs just a few euros.
Royal Alcázar of Seville
STOP 2
Landmark

Royal Alcázar of Seville

A breathtaking Mudéjar palace complex built on the foundations of an old Moorish fortress. Intricate carved stucco, gilded ceilings, lush gardens with peacocks, and so much beauty in every detail. Game of Thrones fans will recognize it as the Water Gardens of Dorne.

💡 Insider tip: Book skip-the-line tickets online a few days ahead — the queue can be brutal in summer. Don't miss the Patio de las Doncellas and the gardens at the back.
Seville Cathedral
STOP 3
Landmark

Seville Cathedral

The largest Gothic cathedral in the world and the burial site of Christopher Columbus. The sheer scale is breathtaking, but the real highlight is climbing the Giralda — a 12th-century Moorish minaret that gives the best panoramic view of Seville's terracotta rooftops.

💡 Insider tip: The Giralda has ramps instead of stairs (so horses could ride up) — a much easier climb than expected. Visit in late afternoon for golden-hour views over the city.

Day 2

Rock of Gibraltar
STOP 1
Viewpoint

Rock of Gibraltar

The towering 426-meter limestone monolith that defines the entire territory. Take the cable car to the top for jaw-dropping panoramic views over Spain, the Strait of Gibraltar and the Moroccan coast on a clear day. Home to the famous Barbary macaques — Europe's only wild monkeys.

💡 Insider tip: Drive from Seville (about 2.5 hours) and park in La Línea on the Spanish side — walk across the border. The cable car is the best way up. Don't feed the monkeys, they bite!
Skywalk Gibraltar
STOP 2
Viewpoint

Skywalk Gibraltar

A vertigo-inducing glass observation platform suspended 340 meters above the sea. The transparent floor gives you the unique sensation of floating above the Mediterranean — not for the faint of heart, but the views are absolutely worth the nerves.

💡 Insider tip: Included with a Nature Reserve ticket along with the other top sights. Best in clear weather — fog occasionally rolls in and ruins the view.
St. Michael's Cave
STOP 3
Nature

St. Michael's Cave

A vast natural cathedral of stalactites and stalagmites deep inside the Rock of Gibraltar. The main chamber is dramatically lit in shifting colors and even hosts concerts — the acoustics are otherworldly. One of the most surreal sights in Europe.

💡 Insider tip: Wear good shoes — it can be slippery inside. Combine with the cable car and Skywalk in one efficient morning. Bring a light jacket — caves stay cool year round.
Europa Point
STOP 4
Viewpoint

Europa Point

The southernmost tip of Gibraltar — and almost the southernmost point of continental Europe. On a clear day you can see Morocco's Rif Mountains across the Strait, just 14km away. The dramatic red-and-white Trinity Lighthouse stands guard at the end.

💡 Insider tip: Free to visit. The mosque here was built as a gift from Saudi Arabia and is one of the southernmost in continental Europe. After this, drive to Tarifa to set up for tomorrow's ferry to Africa.

Day 3

Ferry from Tarifa to Tangier
STOP 1
Travel

Ferry from Tarifa to Tangier

Catch the fast ferry from Tarifa across the Strait of Gibraltar — just 35 minutes and you're on a whole new continent. The ride itself is unforgettable, with Europe shrinking behind you and Africa rising out of the haze ahead. One of the most underrated journeys in Europe.

💡 Insider tip: Book FRS or Inter Shipping tickets online a day or two ahead. Bring your passport — you clear Moroccan immigration on the boat. Tarifa ferry (not Algeciras!) lands you directly in Tangier city center.
Kasbah of Tangier
STOP 2
Town

Kasbah of Tangier

The walled hilltop fortress and oldest part of Tangier — a maze of whitewashed alleys, hidden courtyards and stunning Moorish architecture. Climb the ramparts for panoramic views over the medina, the port and the Strait back toward Spain.

💡 Insider tip: Hire a local guide at the entrance — Tangier's medina can be confusing and a guide will show you hidden corners. Stop at Café Hafa for mint tea with a view that hasn't changed in 100 years.
Tangier Medina
STOP 3
Town

Tangier Medina

An intoxicating maze of spice-scented alleys, hidden riads and bustling souks selling leather, lanterns, ceramics and carpets. Smaller and more manageable than Marrakech's medina but every bit as atmospheric. The crossroads of Europe, Africa and the Arab world.

💡 Insider tip: Bargain hard but kindly — start at half the asking price. The Petit Socco square is the best people-watching spot for a fresh orange juice. Watch out for unofficial 'guides' who'll attach themselves to you.
Cap Spartel
STOP 4
Viewpoint

Cap Spartel

The dramatic northwesternmost tip of Africa — where the Atlantic Ocean officially meets the Mediterranean Sea. A rugged, windswept clifftop with a beautiful old lighthouse, sweeping coastal views, and a profound sense of standing on the very edge of a continent.

💡 Insider tip: Take a 30-minute taxi from central Tangier — agree on a round-trip price (~250-300 dirhams). Combine with the nearby Caves of Hercules just down the coast for a perfect afternoon.
